…or air as the case may be…
My friend Sean and I recently discovered a Poundcity store in the shopping centre next to our university in Belfast, and after a quick lunch decided to investigate.
Our investigation quickly resulted in purchasing a few multipacks of balloons simply because we were both in a mischievious mood and wanted to forget about project work etc, at least for the while.
Oh, we also managed to purchase some novelty christmas headwear, which we were soon wearing on our way back to Ulster University which, surprisingly enough, managed to turn a few heads, even though it was only November at the time. lol
After a few initial misshaps with some of the larger balloons Sean and I came up with the idea of brightening up our studio with a wall of colourful balloons that others students could see passing through the corridor, but after thinking about it, we decided to place the balloons against the window as we thought the balloons might give the studio a cheery atmosphere with daylight filtered through.
Blowing up all of the balloons certainly was a task all its own, and reaching the higher areas of the window was rather tricky, but after a few hours the wall was slowly filled up (although tying all those balloons left our fingertips rather bruised and tender) and we got positive feedback from both student and tutor alike.

After all the work had been done we decided to experiment with some photography (because honestly, when are we going to see a giant wall of balloons again?)
This resulted in blurred imagery and lots of bright, vibrant colours which we thought looked interesting and would certainly help keep the place bright and cheerful even after the wall starts to come down.
Overall, I’d say this bit of fun proved to be quite successful for Sean and myself and it’s definitely something I’ll hope to continue experimenting with when the officials are looking the other way
